The better half has fitted some new alloys to her mk5 golf. They are 17" 5x112 ET 56 7.5j and the tyres are 17 225/45. All the tyre/wheel guides online have shown this size to fit with no problems as have all the mk5 golf forums.

The tyres are no where near the arches at any point on full lock either direction or touching any arch liner..there seems to be quite abit of spare room. However on going round a roundabout today quickish there is a worrying rubbing/banging noise. Even on a striaght it didnt seem quite right.

Doesent make sense as there seems to be room...maybe springs? brakes? something im missing? Tyres too wide after all? 7.5j too wide after all?

Hmmm...any advice?
