Peugeot 306 - Rear brake light/indicator earth fault? - Runaway

Hello all,

If anyone can help me with this fauld I will be eternally grateful!

I have a Peugeot 306 (N Reg/ 1.9 Diesel) Recently it has developed a fault with the lighting. Everytime I brake the nearside indicators come on constant, and everytime I indicate left the brake lights flash! I have been advised that this is almost definitely an earth fault. However I have checked all the earths I can find (rear cluster in the 'c' pillar, under the rear seat near the seat belt mounts, and in the front wing, as well as what looks like a main earth in the engine compartment that comes straight off the battery.)

I have also changed the bulb holders in the rear clusters to rule out corrosion on the circuit boards. I am now admitting defeat as I have no idea where else to look.

If anyone has had a similar fault or knows of a place where I haven't looked then any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance

Loz

Definitly sounds like an earthing fault, I would suggest that you run a seperate earth wire from one cluster to a convenient earthing place, you may have to drill a hole and put a self tapper in. I know it isnt finding the original fault but it will be cheaper and less taxing on your sanity.

Sounds like a plan. Cheers for the advice Peter.

Hi Loz,

I have the exact same issue. What did you do to resolve this problem?

Many thanks

May not be a bad earth as such but an internal break in an earth wire.
