Mazda 6 - Mzda 6 sport D (143) 2007 Wheel bearing - scottblox
I'm having real difficulty getting some replacement front wheel bearings for my 2007 (57) Mazda sport 2L diesel. Having purchased a wheel bearing from Mazda I set about replacing an extremely worn front off side bearing. Having removed the offending item I was dismayed to find the new bearing was too small. I returned to Mazda with both bearings and got a refund, however they where unable to identify a new replacement bearing stating that the one that they supplied was the correct one for my car; obviously not!!!

I tried several other motor factors all with the same result, all of them having the smaller bearing. Now this leads me to believe that I have some 'Hybrid' components fitted to my car, curious in it's self but the real killer is that I still haven't got a replacement bearing.

I have tried Industry bearing distributors and manufactures and have still had no luck. The bearing is stamped up with KOYO DAC4584W-5 and measures 45mm (internal bore) x 84mm (external diameter) x 45mm wide on the outer race. I've passed on these details to the bearing people but they have been unable to identify the bearing, even Koyo's UK 'Master Distributor' has failed.

I've emailed Koyo UK but after 4 days have still not received a reply and they are un-willing to speak to me on the phone as Joe public.

I know I could replace the whole front arm and drive shaft but I'm trying to avoid this, thinking that I may have to do that to both sides for safety reasons. Unfortunately the car has done 86k and is out of warranty so dumping it on Mazda might prove to be costly.

Has anyone else come across this and if so how did you resolve it?

Has anyone got any further ideas and know somewhere I can get a replacement bearing?

Is your a jap import?

You may try the companies that import jap parts they may get you one, im suprised a bearing company can't get you one even if another make.

No not a jap import, It was bought new from the main dealer in Bolton. The bearing company RTS in Lincoln is looking in to it for me, seems the guy on the phone knew what he was talking about and is gonna get back to me once he's got some info

There is a web site "Simply Bearings" where you can insert the sizes. Your code did not work. Decades ago my father and I used to take rusty old ball races along to the bearing supplier, they'd get measured up and a choice of FAG, Timken or SKF offered.

Ok thanks for the help people, finally got this sorted and the car is back on the road no prob. Simplybearings where no help at all.

The final solution came from BRT Bearings in Lincoln who did the number crunching and came up with bearing kit pack number PWK0745.

The bearing in this pack was ment for a TOYOTA PREVIA but I've been told it is also compatable with the 2.3L diesel Mazda 6 as well. It is the correct size, the only difference is that the new bearing part number is DAC4584w-1 and the old one was DAC4584w-5 not sure of the difference (and I don't mean 4); if you know then give us a shout.

The price was a resonable 41.64 plus vat only a fiver more than the first incorrect one I got from Mazda so happy with that.

A part from the faff with finding the new bearing the job was quiet easy in the end and with some simple tools and a press I got it done in aroun 3hrs. One tip you need large diameter ball joint spliters, my standard ones wheren't up to the job and I had to resort to using a second jack and a big hammer to split the bottom pair.

Hope this string helps and any 2007 Mazda 6 drivers out there with creaping millage beware your motor might just have some None standard parts fitted to

So not a diesel at all. There was a petrol turbo 2.3l Mazda 6. At least you're sorted.
