01 1.9 No brake lights - terryb
SWMBO's 01(Y) Berlingo has no brake lights - inc high-level array. No fuse is shown in handbook for brake lights so have checked them all visually. Have also checked conventional bulbs as I'd heard one of these blowing could put the whole circuit out.

How can I find and check the switch? Is there a hidden fuse somewhere?

Any ideas anyone please? Thanks in advance

Usually the switch is attached or very near to the brake pedal just up under the dashboard. You'll have to either lay down in the footwell and look upwards, or you might be able to feel it if you place your hand up under the dash in the brake pedal area.

There is often a card/fibre cover at the lower part of the dash that covers the pedal mechanism.Usually held on with some plastic pop studs.Remove this to gain access to the brake switch. The switch will probably be a push fit into a plastic retaining "claw".hth

Thanks both.

In view of he lovely weather I took it to a local indy this morning. Cause was a build-up of gunge around the switch - sorted within an hour for the princely sum of £21.
