01 2.2 dti - starting problems - jimbo77
hi eveyone.
could anyone please help? my dti was running fine untill i decided to change the fuel filter. Since then then ive had trouble everyday starting, mainly after its been standing for longer than 5 hrs or so.

I have changed the fuel filter housing thinking i may of damaged it, but no change. there is deisel spraying out of all injectors once its started and it runs great then. ive also cleaned the EGR vave and another sensor in the manifold which were badly oiled up but still no change.

I have read that it could be something as simple as the spill pipes which could need replacing or more costly, the injector seals.

Ive also heard of people putting a non return valve in the system, as i believe im drawing air in but i dont know from where. could this be a simple cure? if so, would you put the valve? On the crimped fuel pipes before the filter or between the filter and the pump?I would rather try the simple cheaper solutions first myself before going to the dealers

It was a 2minute job to change the fuel filter but now I wish i never touched it!!

Any advice is hugely appreciated!!!!
