Alloy Wheels - Bad Design! - Andy P
A year ago, I purchased a set of BK Racing alloy wheels. Unlike normal wheels, the bolts required a key, like a large allen key, to remove them. This way, they fitted snugly into the holes without leaving a gap. However, I now realise that this leads to a problem - the bolts have begun to show small cracks around the upper edge.

BK Racing claim that that this is due to overtourqing the bolts, yet the wheels have only been removed probably four or five times, and the bolts have always been put back on using a torque wrench. To me, it seems like a bad design - the wheel nuts are simply not thick enough.

BK Racing won't replace them, so be warned - BK Racing wheels may look good, but their bolt design leaves a lot to be desired.
