Hi,
yesterday, the Auto Diagnosis light came on and with it the car has gone into limp mode.
It went off for a while, then came on again last night after the car had stood for a while.
And today, the light has been on permanently.
I'm not sure if its a strange thing, but intermittently, I am able to accelerate properly above 3000RPM, then it will go into limp mode again.
I am getting this checked out on thursday at a local citroen specialist - £25+vat for the diagnostic - but was wondering if anybody had had the same sort of problem and what maybe the problem could be.
I don't know if its a co-incidence but I had filled up at a supermarket about 20 mins before the AD light came on. I have read that supermarket fuels are not as good - is this true or fuel snobbery?
I am not that bothered about the car being in limp mode but am towing a caravan in about 8 weeks and wouldn't mind having the power there for that.

Regards

Steve

UPDATE:

Ok, last night on the way home the car ran fine, didn't go into limp mode but the warning light was still on.

This morning, the light was off and the car was running fine.

Do I cancel the visit to the specialist or is it worth it getting checked out anyway?

Same thing happened to my Diesel Vectra at the weekend.Light on no power. I found a split vacuum hose going into the EGR electrics. Piece of Gaffer tape sealed it up, light off, back to normal.Put on a new piece of rubber hose when I got home.Vacuum leaks flag up all kinds of problems. Garages love them.Sometimes hard to find though. Computer would have shown a EGR fault-Very expensive to replace the part, only to find the fault is still there! Really common on Vauxhalls-Good Luck.

Please let us know the 'fix' or at least the outcome to this problem. So others can learn and save !

Well not much of an answer but I've spoken to the specialist today and he has bascially told me as the fault appears to have disappeared there is no point point running the diagnostic but if it reappears to come in and see him!!

If anything changes, I keep you updated.

I would have thought the code would have been stored ? They are on Vectra's .A word of warning-I lost my power when changing down a gear to overtake on a 'B' road-quite scary. My split hose was attached to the inner wing, going onto the egr which is fitted to the exhaust manifold (engine moves, wing doesn't) so there is always movement on the hose.Opening and closing the split.Allowing it to get worse over time, ultimately causing the vacuum leak.
Personally I'd spend £25 now.Rather than £100 for a tow home or maybe an accident in the fast lane of the Motorway ! Your call ?

Right then - Auto Diags light came back on the other week, just before going on hols and meant to be towing the caravan, so thought i best get it checked out.

Local citroen guy ran the diags and came up with a P0235 fault - said to change the turbo pump valve (??) - part number Bosch 9635704380.....this didn't do the trick and the light remained on.

The scrap dealer who i got the part from thought it a bit strange that i was advised to get the turbo pump valve as he had never been asked for this before, and suggested it might be something to do with the air intake (i'm guessing here as he did say it rather quickly and was a bit difficult to understand....)

The car was in limp mode for a while but then even though the Auto Diags light was on, started to perform normally again....revved properly etc, but intermittently would go into limp mode, especially on longer journeys, or when i am stood in traffic

This time round the fault light is staying on full time.

Any ideas?

Got any further with this?

I have the same model and very similar experience, probably related on here before. Light comes on occasionally usually without but sometimes with limp mode then goes out on restart or within 48hrs As car is mainly station hack/backup I've been ignoring it for last 18 months. However wife and I swapped cars while I took kids away for w/e and since then it's been on continually with the odd excursion into limp. Oddly enough she was driving it last time it had a bad turn - I'm trying not to blame her lack of mechanical sympathy!!

Local specialist saw it today says PO235 is Map Sensor power supply, I'm also getting PO245/6 both of which are associated with turbo regulation electrovalve. They suggest referring it to an auto electrician.

Unfortunately the tech who dealt with it had gone home by time I collected, hopefullly I can speak to him on Monday. I think he suspects that the fault codes are spurious and that possibly there is some wiring damage or similar. Assume they cleared the codes as it was off on collection and stayed off all the way home.

Update

Back at garage today for rectification of a separate problem with an injector seal and to review electrical connections etc re above diagnosis.

Discovered that piping to turbo pressure regulation valve was split. Smallish pipe in environment where rubber is likley to degrade leading so splits. These tend to open under load. Pipe replaced and all seems normal again.
