More info on V.W. VIN's , it seems all v.w. cars start their VIN's with W, even the Mexican Beetles! The letter just before the seven last seriel nos. indicates the assembly plant (W=Wolfsburg;E=Emden;M=Mexico;Y=Spain;P=Brazil .)There's more but I can't remember the others.I've seen a few Brazilian Golfs (mk 4) just recently,demand must be high,or, is there another reason????
