I have just bought a yaris 1.0L (yr 2005) and changed transmission fluid. Car is running fine exept for the transmission vent hose leaks transmission fluid only when engine is cold and after about 4 mins after starting engine and leaving it to idle.Fluid level appears to be normal (there is no dipstick)but is full of bubbles. Anyone can advise me please.

Assuming you mean the fluid is overflowing out of the vent pipe then I have to ask if you have used the correct fluid for the gearbox. Regards Peter

Thanks for your prompt reply Peter. I used a fluid recommended by the mechanic. According to the label it was meant for automatic transmission. I hope it was the correct one!

I suggest you ask Toyota main agents. Regards Peter

I used Donax TA Type IID. The mechanic used the conventional way of changing the fluid. I am a novice and at that time was not aware about it . Only now I know that it was a wrong way.
|
But what do Toyota specify for your model. Regards Peter
|
The previous owner lost the car manual. Am not aware of the specification. The wrong type of fluid can be the problem?
|
Ring Toyota and ask them. Regards Peter
|
According to my Yaris manual you need SAE75W-90 API GL4 or GL5.
ATF is wrong!!!

How long does it take to ring the Toyota dealer. ?????????????????????????
Regards Petere

Sounds like you need to change both oil and mechanic.
