Need to hire a luxury car for a weekend in August - Blue {P}
Hi all,

Can anyone give me a recommendation on where I can hire a nice car from for a friend's wedding day in August? I'm in the North East so unless they deliver the car it will have to be somewhere within about 100 miles maximum for me to collect.

I don't want a car with driver as the whole point is that I will be driving the car (my friend's request) so it has to be a self-drive company.

Cars up for considersation are 300C, A8, 5 and 7 Series, E and S-Class but I'll look at anything else that has a suitably nice feel about it. If possible I would want the thing for the whole weekend so that I can play with it the day after the wedding but it's not essential.

Actually, unless anyone has any bright ideas I may have just found the right deal, a Mercedes CLS for Friday to Monday rental for £375 even though I'll only be 25. :-)

Didn't expect to find a good deal so quickly as I was really struggling with some of the major brand's websites, found the deal through Thrifty car rental.

Make sure the bride + headress can fit in the back! It is a lovely looking car but perhaps a little limited for space in the rear seats. Sounds like a good price for a weekend hire though!

You could always try some dealers. I know the Volvo dealer in Carlisle has some cars for hire. That is only an example. Enjoy your day.

Thats a pretty good deal - ive just booked a 1930 Rolls-Royce Brougham for my wedding in June - £275 for about 8 miles - but the car is a beauty and worth every penny. Weddings sure do cost alot!

Only if you want them to - ours cost about £1,000.

A neighbour had a CLS for their wedding - his brother working at MB helped in this regard. Marriage lasted 6 months - cost of the wedding £30,000!

Blue, check out the MB CLS - the head room in the back of this "four door coupe" is not brilliant. Weddings and hats is what I am thinking here.

My mate's a girl (obviously I'm mate's with the groom but I only know him through her) so once she's decided that she wants something I tend not to argue lol.

I'll stay sober during the day but as my parents will be at the night time function I'll allow my dad to drive it back as it's only a fiver per day for extra drivers. I don't normally need to drink to enjoy myself in fact I've not long got in from a sober night out in Newcastle, but her reception is being held in a fantastic beachside pub with a great atmosphere so I will be partaking in the festivities. It's at the bottom of a cliff and a lot of the interior is simply tunnelled out of the rock, fantastic! Also, once you've had a drink the beach seems even more fun! :-)

Will check out Guy Salmon although the last time I looked they were very expensive, the name of the game is cost limitations with this day! Fortunately my mate isn't wearing a big white dress so space shouldn't be a massive problem.
