1998 Mazda Xedos- 2 ltr V6 - 49,000 - genuine - I have had it 9.5 years - it had 2,058 mls on the clock when I bought it in Sept 1999.
2nd car so low mileage. FSH - Climate Control, leather seats, well nigh immaculate considering it is 10.5 yrs old - slight corrosion on 2 x wheels + 2 parking dings (if you look very closely!!).

have a look on autotrader. i just have and there is some on there from £695. where in country are you ?

>>where in country are you ?
Falkirk - 25 mls from Glasgow or bottom of the SPL!
|
FB, lets hope Caley go back down where they belong!!
Re the car, why you wanting to sell it? For the sake of the grand you might get, why not hold onto it?
|

FB wears what the Yanks call plaid, and has a bowl of boiled oats for breakfast.
|
Autotrader or eBay - look for around a grand privately, especially if you have a comprehensive history and a fresh MOT.
|
We sold our 2003 polo tdi on the Daily record web "roadrecord" got 14 days free ad with photos and sold for asking price(£3k) so happy all round. Also tried a free add on Gumtree which resulted in several phonecalls haggling on an already fair price. no one came to view from that. Road record should get a good coverage in your area.

I think £1k is too much in the current climate for a car like this, larger cars become worthless when they get to a certain age no matter how good the car itself is.
|
I know of a 2001 Daewoo Nubira 1.6 for sale with 59k for just £600 with a new MOT and tax in very good condition - worth looking at what else you can get around your intended market.
|
|
I would happily spend £1000 on a silky smooth 6 pot, good condition and sub 50K mileage car which probably cots £20K only 10 years ago
|
It was £22.5K NEW, I paid £15.5K
|
I just wish I had £1000 now!
|
Tim the problem is the market is very small for cars like this, most people these days want smaller more fuel efficient cars if they are looking at the £1000 sector, then there is the issue of insurance for many people it would cost a fortune to insure this car so the market becomes limited to middle aged men who want a nice smooth engine the problem is they probably have more than £1k to spend.
It would really be best sold to somebody who is a fan of this car and really wants one, if the seller wants £1k he may well get it but expect the buyer to come from a long way and expect it to take a while to sell.

Falkirk Bairn,
Believe it or not, I'd be genuinely interested in purchasing it - assuming the price is right of course.
You've flagged your profile as hidden - so can you contact me please?
Many thanks in advance,
Mark

It costs me £130/yr fully comp with E-sure - I agree a Gp 16 car would be expensive for a youngster. My 30+ yr old sons pay £300-£500 for an X5 disel, 525 Diesel & Lexus IS

Insurance wouldnt really be a problem. I currently drive a group 13 car and pay 300 pound fully comp/protected. I wouldnt expect to pay more than 500 pound on a group 16 car.

" it would cost a fortune to insure this car"
Not really Rattle, unless you're very young or a bit short on no-claims! I pay £130 for mine.
(I see this has already been answered. Sorry - reading up from the bottom...)

I don't want to depress you, FB, but I just saw a 1999 one in reasonable fettle fail to fetch £400 on Ebay. It made the £600 I paid for mine two years ago seem a tad expensive!
Lovely car - why are you getting rid of it?
|
Discussed it with SWMBO and we have agreed to leave it just now - get the 2 parking dins sorted by the "invisible repair man", get the 2 wheels refurbed - £200 say and then sell it later in the year.
I might then advertise it at a "High Price" and see if there is a Mr "Always Wanted Xedos" prepared to pay a premium.
The car is original, apart from brakes, tyres, exhaust, wipers, plugs. The battery will be 11 this year and so will most of the lightbulbs - I have replaced a reversing light and a stop light. Although it has a CD player I have the tape player for the original look - to satisfy Mr Xedos fanatic - if he actually exists
|
"The battery will be 11 this year"
That's impressive. I wonder if what really kills batteries is the charging control circuits in some cars?
I've got couple of spare Xedos wheels that you're welcome to (you'll need something if yours are being refurbed!) - but you'll need to collect. Perhaps a holiday in the Isle of Wight this year..? :-)
|
As a matter of interest, FB, what make of battery is it?
