I have a rain sensor on my 306 estate which varies the speed of wipe with the severity of the rainfall. There is a specific switch position to operate the wipers in automatic mode. The problem is that when the wipers go to the park position they judder over the final 30degrees or so of the sweep - most annoying! This only happens when in auto mode, NOT when you switch off the wipers from any other mode(ie not from fast, normal or wipe once). The clicking of a relay can be heard as the judder occurs. I get the impression that this is probably a problem with the rain sensor or maybe a relay. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so what did you do to correst it? - many thanks in anticipation of some help

"Has anyone else experienced this problem?" - Yes.
SMBO's X-reg 306 HDi did, and it got worse so the wipers would not park when they stopped. Our trusted indie fitted a new wiper motor (which apparently has various position sensors related to the different operating modes) and it cured the problem.
I'm not saying that in your case the rain sensor/relay is definitely not faulty, but a lot of problems with 306 wipers, I gather, come back to the motor itself.

I can 2nd that. I did the same on a 306 hdi estate with a wiper judder on rain sensor.
Replaced the motor job done.
In fact when I went into peugoet to get some info it was the receptionist on the service desk that said that was the problem.
I assume its because shes seen plenty of recalls

Thanks for your help scfc_151. I bet the Peugeot garage you referred to is quite useful.

Thanks Chris - I've just bought the car and it still has a 3month warrenty so I'll see if I can get the motor replaced FOC - wish me luck, small garages selling by quantity at low margines don't usually want to do much more than replace the odd light bulb under warrenty!!

Hmm. I agree that wiper malfunctions like this usually mean a new motor - not cheap. But I fixed mine (99T reg) with a used motor from Car Transplants. £30 IIRC. DIY, easy.
