1998 1.8d Immobiliser problems - escortintransit

i have an escort 55 on an 'S' reg. and recently i have begun to have problems with starting it. the lignition and lights all switch on, however the engine doesnt turn over. i have vague knowledge about the immobiliser and the PATS system with the LED but i was wondering if there was anyway i can bypass it at all? my LED is flashing quickly for a minute, then its code it flashing 3 times and then flashing 2 times, this is repeated 10 times. i dont have the red coded key as that was never given to me when i brought the thing! so is there anyone out there with any help?
