01 1.6 aluminium block big end change - sideways is best
Hi, how many of you have tried a successful piston ring and/or big end bearing change on the alloy block se zetec engines. Ford recommend the bottom ends shouldn't be stripped but over the years I've done several. Most of the time the engines were heavy oil users, some went on to misfire; and some when stripped had burnt valves, and always stuck piston rings. The oil control rings were nearly always completely stuck and exerted NO outward sealing pressure.
The history of the oil being used was the most common suspect. Any one else heard of any success on these zetecs. All the best.
