Saw an advert in one of the Sunday mags introducing the new Peugeot 4007, the company's first 4x4. Looks very aggressive with it's big shark mouth grille. Advert says it uses more fuel in 2wd. To my eye it makes a Ssangyong Musso look cute. 19inch alloys with low profile tyres...not for off-road and probably a bad idea for some of our pot-holed roads locally. At £24000, an expensive way to get the kids to school !

Peugeot have managed quite well without a SUV so far. They certainly picked an unfortunate moment to unveil one. They should have stuck to what they are best at - small and family-size cars and vans.

They jumped on the 4x4 bandwagon, just like everyone else, they just messed up the timing.
Btw the Citroen version, the C-Crosser, is slightly easier on the eye and looks a lot less like a Thomas the Tank Engine extra.

Just had a quick look at the peugeot website, there is a side view of one, and from the "a" pillars back it looks, as you say, like a Musso, from the windscreen forwards ... looks like they forgot to design the front end, and picked one to fit off the shelf ! To me it looks best in the dark colours, but overall, from the outside at least, a disaster. Peugeot make attractive cars otherwise, but , like Porsche with the Cayenne, maybe they should stick to what they do best. No doubt they are hoping that a lab figure of 39mpg average will sell a few, but i suspect that the next 12 months will see a flood of "eco" vehicles. How long before " interest free credit " ?

Has this not been out for about a year or so, if not longer?

That's what I thought too. It has been out a while just not many sold. I've not seen the Pug, Citroen or Mitsubishi versions at all.
Saw another (black) C5 today. Now that I like.

Just had a look at the autotrader website.
It advertises 106 throughout the entire country, some of which date back to '07' reg.

Strange, the advert made it look as though they were introducing a new model. I'll dig the mag out of the re-cycle bin tomorrow and see what it says...it was a double page spread. I can't say I've ever seen one on the road.
