Hi, Everyone.
Need some advice, bought a 53 reg Vectra 3.0CDTI (Auto). I seem to be having a problem with the gearbox, I have done some research and look's like Vauxhall does have a problem with it's Auto gearbox.
Basically, the car drives fine, pick's up speed as usual and the rest. Only when I lift of from stand still and when applying the foot brake, there is a slight judder in the gear change, especially in 1st and 2nd.
I have been advised that the gearbox is knackered and that it's on it's way out. When connecting to the BOSCH KTS no gearbox fault code's come up. If anyone could please advise would be much appreciated.
Also if anyone feel's want to take if of my hands as they may be able to solve the problem I have stated the spec and my mobile number.

What is the colour of the fluid in the gearbox?
Pink good, brown bad - if brown a change of fluid might just be the answer.

If its a similar autobox to that on my 2.2 Vectra, then there isn't a dipstick to pull out to check.

It's worth dropping the oil & replace the filter if it has one, just a change of new oil can make all the differance in the clutch packs.
When you change it see if the oil smell's burnt? any black material bits in there?
As for no dipsticks fitted, merc's are similar but they do sell a dip stick to fit maybe vx do the same.

I honestly don't have the money to take it to a local garage to get it checked out. From what I know, the oil has been changed previously and the problems remains the same.
Someone else mentioned that it may be the gear selecter that needs replacing, but I also been warned by a garage that the gearbox may be on it's way out. I have called up Vauxhall just to check how much a new gearbox may cost on these car's and they have stated around £2,500.
I am honestly just thinking of just sticking it on the net they way it stands and waiting to see if someone who's good with these cars is prepared to take a chance on it and get it sorted. Looking on the net they are worth between, £4,000 and £4,500.
I need the money, and am looking to get rid at around £3,000. Reason being I don't have the funds to have it looked at properly, as it may cost £300 or more.

You mention the oil has already been changed? If so and this car has the AW55-50 gearbox (which I believe it has) then it is absolutely imperative that ATF conforming to the spec JWS 3309 is used.
Dexron III is far more common (and cheaper) and if put into these autoboxes *will* cause them to die quite quickly!
Sometimes, whoever is changing the ATF doesn't realise this...

fairly sure that there is a software update for this fault, what vauxhall call an" SPS update" give your local dealer a call and see if they know about it, if they dont post back and i will see if i can find the field remedy number for you
