PEUGEOT 106. 2000 PLATE. 78,000 MILES.
Please could somebody help me - my car is driving me mad! Over the last couple of weeks (since it has started to get cold) I have experienced problems starting my car in the mornings. Some days it is fine but on other days it turns over but conks out almost immediatly. Once started again it sounds as though it is going to conk out again at any point, the gear stick also starts shaking, I then have to leave it running for 5-10 minutes. When I pull away the car begins to lose power and only what I can describe as "bunny hops" down the road! I have to dip the clutch to stop it cutting out. Once I have been driving for 5-10 minutes the problem seems to sort itself out and is fine for the rest of the day. I took the car to a garage who told me I needed a new stepper motor (even though a new stepper motor had been fitted less than 20,000 miles ago), this was fitted but the next day I had the same problem. They then said that I needed a new temp sensor. Since both items have been fitted the car is not as bad, it has not conked out but still does not like starting in the morning, and still sounds as though it is going to cut out. When I pull away the rev counter goes haywire and it sounds as though I am accelerating too much (but im not). I really dont know what to do - I dont want to take it back to the garage before getting some advice as they dont seem to know what is wrong with it, I cannot afford for them to keep "trying things" as its proving very expensive. Has anyone experienced the same problems?
