I am reminded by another thread that Pat Moss died the other day. She was Stirling Moss's younger sister and he taught her to drive. So as well as being a quite serious horse person all her life she was for some years a fairly successful rally driver.
Got done for speeding towing a horse box not long before she died. Chapeau!
I couldn't help wondering if her horses were experienced passengers, resignedly bracing their outside hooves against the walls of the box during high speed cornering...

Very nice tribute to her this afternoon on Radio 4. I learnt rather a lot from it.

Pat was, of course, married to famous Saab rally driver Erik Carlsson, a delightful and charming man man, who proved a true gentleman when he warmly greeted us on our arrival at a Swedish hotel for a new Saab model launch, unloaded the boot and carried our luggage into the foyer.
Pat was a fine rally driver herself, displaying an admirable consistency in her performances.

Did'nt she rally Austin Healy 3000 too?

Some information on her rallying career can be found at:
{snip - sorry no direct links to The Times. I'm sure if you goto their website you'll find her obituary easily enough}
