I am looking for a nearly new BMW for my wife. Possible a
320 CI but more likely a 3 door 1 Series 118SE.
What percentage of list price should I expect to pay for one
six months old and 12 months old assuming 10K miles per
year?
(Her previous car had a "mishap" at the local garage when in for a
minor repair this week - needs a new bonnet, windscreen, and
the roof is less than perfect! Despite BMW servicing the two stage
bonnet catch had seized up and it was not properly down.......)

This is a tricky one - who would want to sell a 6/12 month old car?
The dealer will no doubt have an ex-demonstator / ex-staff car on the forecourt as a stalking horse , i.e it will be priced only a thousand or two less than a new one, so you think, what the hell, I might as well pay a thousand or two more and get a new one!
i.e there will not be a "real" 2nd hand market for a car that age, so you will be into the clutches of a main dealer.

Leasing companies - they'll have an upturn in early terminations right now. You might find what you want at an auction, perhaps?

I can see the conundrum. Mrs M does about 8k miles a year and
a car from a main dealer with 10k miles on the clock and a bit off the
list price might strike a suitable balance.
There do seem to be a few about (1 series though) six months old
and £17k. I suppose it's supply and demand again.
Mrs M is not too happy with a one series, her female logic being "last time I had a THREE.
Why shouldI go down market......" !! It is probably the most suitable though.
Looks like I have work to do!

Well, for one thing, there's all the ex-BMW UK staff cars - there must be thousands of them.
