96 3.0 V6 petrol misfire problem - nev666
Shogun with misfire warmer it gets worse it gets. timing checked compression tested new plugs and leads fitted to no effect. only thing not changed is the cat and with the misfire that has broken up inside. uses no water or oil no pressurising of system just misses and pops in exhaust at times more so when warmed up. it must be something simple that i am missing.
has anyone any ideas before i have to take it to garage.
willing to try anything i have run out of ideas timing out head gasket/valve plugs leads etc.

Been trying to access this page all evening.

Does it miss at idle? Any fault codes?

Hi,
havent got a clue about fault codes, on initial start up for a few secs its on 6 then it goes as if onto 5 with misfire at idle and occassional pop in exhaust warmer it gets the more frequent the pops or if revved at all. It will do this on both petrol or gas.
coil pack, faulty injector or even broken cat have been suggested. local garage want to change head gaskets and timing belt.
compression fine
timing fine
uses no water
runs at correct temp
no water in oil
no bubbles/pressurising of system
so i think that rules out there idea.
I am tending to think that it could be an electrical or over fueling problem.
If it is overfueling then it must still be getting petrol when on gas as it still does the same.
Like i say havent got a clue, has me beat.

Ahh; LPG. The best way to ruin a nice engine yet devised.

First, identify which cylinder is dropping out. Then do a compression test on that cylinder with the engine running. Might show a sticking valve.

If possible; get all the exhaust gases measured when it's missing - on both fuels.
