04 1.8 Stuck in Reverse - Desb
I have a 2004, one of the last built, Focus 1.8 Zetec 5 speed manual.
Intermittantly it get stuck in either 1st or reverse gear. To get into neutral I have to switch the engine off then put the car in neutral and restart it. All seems OK after this but I wonder if anybody has come across this before ?

Sounds like a clutch hydraulics problem - any leaks?

Nothing apparent.
I will get the local garage to check that out as the car has done 50kmiles.
Not sure how long Focus clutches last.

A lot longer than that; don't assume that this is actually the clutch itself.

Was the clutch cylinder. Local garage changed it and has been OK. Well only for a week but I think you were correct.
