Hi all,

I have had a look at brake pads on rear of this car and they are very low and need changing however and not sure if pistions in caliper wind back or lever back any info would be great. as I am going to do this job myself and the handbrake also operates on rear discs any thing particular to watch out for when doing this job?

Wind back with the correct tool is much eaiser,

When fitting slacken off the hand brake then remove & when refitting pump the pedal then take up the handbrake last to suit.

Its also worth bearing in mind that the rear pads on these don't have much meat on them to start with. Just 6mm in fact of pad materiel.

Yes I was pretty horrified when I first looked at the rear pads on my Xsara, immediately bought a new set, and took them out of the box to find the new ones had hardly any more material on them than the ones on the car!

In my experience it also allows a certain fast fit chain to point at your rear brakes, suck through their teeth and exclaim how worn they are, when you know for a fact you replaced them yourself only a few weeks earlier, but that's another story.................

Yeah thank for the info guys,
I also had a an experience with the fast fit merchants which is why i am changing the pads my self so I wont suddenly discover I need discs all round new shock absorbers and a tyre or two if you catch my drift

LOL wrigley... I wonder if these fast-fit guys rip themselves off outrageously merely from habit when they are doing their own brakes, and then complain about it bitterly at work the next day...
