02 2.0 Handbrake - espzetec
just changed my rear pads and now the handbrake just pulls right up. how do i adjust it? It used to be nice and tight before I changed the pads. And yes the cable is still connected to the caliper.

Did you pump the pedal hard a few times?

You may also have to take up some slack manually for the h/brake.

yeah, pedal pumped until nice and firm.

tried pulling handbrake up and down loads and it wont adjust.

One thing that could be the probelm - One side of pads not changed on the rear as waiting to collect a new caliper tomorrow as the old one is seized. will this be the cause? If anythingm i would think it would be tighter with new pads on one side?

Caliper problems on these will cause handbrake trouble.Also check the handbrake cables,very common to seize.Handbrake adjustment is automatic unless it has had a modified handbrake lever fitted with manual adjuster.hth
