Hiya i have a 306 1.9td S reg, for a while now my rev counter decides to drop anywhere between 5 and 10 minutes into a journey, the air con seems to cut out about the same time, the light on the dash stays on though, just isn't cold anymore you press it off then on, no click or cold air. It only starts working again after the car has been left off for a few hours. All fuses seem to be alright though, oddly enough when the engines running if i remove the number 2 fuse you hear it click on and you have cold air, just no rev counter still, i think the two faults are connected Any ideas would really help, thanks ahead.

Please can someone help. My air con decides to stop working a few minutes into every journey, it happens about the same time as my rev counter decides to drop to zero, the car still runs fine during the journey, but these two don't start working again until the car has been off for a few hours, and you start a new journey. I have checked fuses and relays, and they seem fine. Any help would be great.

When you say the a/c stops working,do you mean the fan blower stops or no hot/cold air.Is the control panel dead?
|
The A/C light is still on, the air just stops being cold, no dehumidifying peoperties to it. If i turn it off and on again, you don't hear it click in at all. Don't know if the revs change cause the counter would already have already stopped working. I was checking the fuses once, whilst the engine was running, and it clicked in and i had cold air when i removed a fuse, think it was number 2 fuse under the steering column, can't really remember it was a while ago. Thanks for any help you can offer

Cant help you with the aircon but your rev counter problem is probably a poor contact in the two pin plug at the gearbox end of the cylinder head just above the bell housing, if not it could be the sensor itself - just follow the wires.

Yes, replace the crank position sensor plug. It will fix the rev counter and the aircon. It went on mine too.
The aircon relay cuts out when the engine isnt running (ie no rev signal) to disengage the clutch on the aircon compressor. Hence your problem.
Easy job to DIY too by the way.

Think i've found the right plug, I've had a look and cleaned up the plug and connections, no cange though.
Peter N. If it is the sensor itself, where is that located?
Thanks again for your help lads.
