91 Mini 998cc Electrical fault. - mechanical-muppet
Originally the left hand indicators when activated would just stay on and the rear tail lights would not work at all, although the brake lights work fine . After cleaning the earth connections the tail lights and headlights have come on... permanently.

The only way to shut them off is to pull 2 of the fuses under the bonnet, the one for the operating with ignition and the always on circuit. With the tail lights coming on, the indicators have stopped working.

We are left with permanent driving lights, with the ignition on or off and no indicators.

Does anyone have any ideas where to start looking?

Thanks

Is this a Mini or a Metro?

Owing to some glitch the fact that the OP had correctly "filed" this in the drop-down menus failed to show in the subject line that this was a Mini.
