Hello everyone - I have just joined today. I have just bought an 03 '45' after moving from Renault and I am really pleased with it, but want to know a couple of things wjich may seem basic to the forum, so please humour a pensioner!
1. The car has only done 19K and is immaculate with all the books/service docs. There was a radio code for it, but not a Key Accesss Code. Do I need this and where can I get it from?
2. The vehicle is a pale metallic blue, but don't know the colour. How do i find this and order a touchup stick (not that I need it yet)?
3. The interior like all the car is immaculate, but I notice that the rear parcel shelf has a 'very slight 'mauve? hue to it. It looks original, but is this correct?
4. The engine seems to have a slightly 'throaty' sound to it after my previous car - especially when starting, but runs fairly quietly once warmed up. Is thi usual for a Rover as my friend's 75 seems quiter as does another's 25. Is it because of the 1.8 engine?
5 Finally, there does seem more road noise than previous car - however, it has had all new tyres fitted on picking it up earlier this week.
Sorry with all these questions and thank you everyone.

the vin number will reveal the colour , but the throaty sound may be a breaking cat /convertor

Did you buy from trader or private?
What did you pay?

the road noise could be the tyres, new tyres does not mean quiet tyres. what make & type are they?

From a Rover 45 handbook.
1 The key access code is essential to start the car if the handset has been damaged or lost.
2 The body colour and trim codes are stamped on the vin plate (there is a box marked paint and 1 marked trim )
3 The book doesnt say ! :) And I dont know
The folowing are not in the book though,
4 The 1.8 can give a throaty sound when used to press on a little. If it is at low speds possible exhaust blow or similar?
5 Road noise is subjective, but probably tyres. Are they an open block tread pattern?

Thanks everyone for the information:
Have found paint colour from VIN plate which is JYA and is not available in Halfords for some reason, but which is Rover Teal Blue.
Actually I got it from a local reputable dealer and it had one owner at 19K and cost £3995.
Engine does get a lot quieter after a couple of miles and when I get out exhaust sounds ok. Must be that I have been used to a quiet 1.6 before!
Re tyres: Front pair are Michelin and they a hve a pattern which has two lines going around the tyre and normal tread? The rear pair are brand new and are called Roadstone -unusually they seem to have no line going around them and they say on them Radials?. Size is 195/55 on a 15" alloy.
