Hi
I am looking to purchase a 2002 52 Mondeo diesel
There is a TDCI badge on the boot and the engine cover has durotorq TDCI written on it. But when i entered the reg no on the autotrader web site the car came back as being a TDDI.
Can anybody clarify what model it is
Thanks in advance
Tony

Year wise, it could be either. My inclination is that the reg. document is wrong. (that's where the website is getting its info from)
If you remove the engine cover (take dipstick out first), locate the diesel pump. If this has a single feed pipe going up to a black-painted steel bar (the common rail), with a pipe going from this bar to each injector, then you have a tdci. However, if a separate pipe goes from the pump to each injector, then you have a tddi. This is my understanding of it, but perhaps someone like Screwloose can give a more definitive response.

I couldn't have put it any better than that. That is the crucial difference.
The only other thing that I could suggest is to ring a dealer and quote the reg - Ford's own computer records will be accurate and will also reveal any "interesting" repairs that may have been done under warranty....
Before buying a TDCi - get it expertly assessed.
