Just reflecting on last weekend's carnage here in Spain. 24 killed on the roads, and TV reports as usual referring to "accidents" "caused by fog".
Judging by the cars that overtook me in one 45 minute drive through some horrendous patches of fog, mostly going at twice my speed and with no lights on, the proliferation of automatic transmission, cruise control and automatic headlights leaves drivers of *certain large cars* comatose if not actually brain dead in fog.

Accidents aren't caused by fog - they're caused by drivers not driving according to the road or weather conditions.
Many a time I've actually come off the M6 in fog because of "drivers of *certain large cars* .....brain dead in fog."

I am definitely a 'press on' driver and always have been...but....fog truly worries me. If thick enough you'll find me matching the lorries, with an enormous gap.
If only these people thought about it, they're piling into the unknown aren't they and hoping for the best. Same thing applies to monsoon type heavy rain, with the added aquaplaning concern.
