2006 1.6 Sport - A couple of questions (or even 3) - Lefty
Hello all. I have just bought a ford focus sport 1.6. 06 plate. I have two questions well maybe three.

Firstly does anyone know if it is a Zetec engine? I assume so.

Secondly does it have sports suspension. I asked the guy but he gave me a very generic answer.

Thirdly anyone got one? Views, opinions and such?

I believe it is a Duratec model of engine, based on the earlier zetec line. It does not have sports suspension oddly, and is the same as ghia and lx models.

From what I remember from the days when I sold these, the Sport is basically a tarted up version of the LX, it has the same seats and suspension etc.

The Zetec model is the one with the sports suspension (and very nice suspension it is too) and it also has sportier seats. That's the one that I would be trying to buy personally.

OK, SWMBO's is a 1.6 Focus Chic - which I think is based on a Zetec - but it was sporty enough to get me done for speeding when I borrowed it! ;-)

It's an excellent car, if you can stand the noise!

Sport is (or was) a good spec shoice - doesn't cost much more than an LX but got lots of desirable equipment :

Fuel computer
Colour coded door handles and boot handle and mirrors (on later models only)
16" Alloy wheels
Front fog-lights
Leather 3 spoke steering wheel
other irrelevant garnish (chrome instrument surrounds, couple of extra speakers, etc)

Zetec gains sport suspension and dark headlights (if you know what I mean), different (but same size) alloy wheels, alarm and sportier seats. The suspension is useful if you like hard driving, but other than that not really worth the price permium.
