Both front windows go down but will only go back up by nursing them in tiny steps over a period of time. Whats involved and is this something that a reasonable DIY,r can handle ?

Try cleaning the glass. Do you smoke? If so sticky tar deposits can be on the glass, and the motor will stop as soon as it is resisted in any way. Just like the safety feature which prevents you getting your hand trapped in the window as it goes up. Also try lubricating the rubber channels with a silicon (not oil) based lubricant before you suspect any costly fault. Always go for the simple things first........

The electric windows on these have electronic logic control. It is possible that the module has lost its memory thro a glitch in the electronics or more likely a low voltage battery condition.Have you had problems with a flat battery or had to jump start car?The windows can be reset by raising the glass by the first position of the up mode on the switch and then holding the second position up mode when glass has reached top of its movement.I am sure this is described in the handbook.hth
