the temperature gauge on my sons 1999 fiesta 1.3 isnt working does anyone have any idea what the problem can be and where the sender unit is located

It is very possible that the sender unit is faulty.If this is the old ohv Endura engine then the sender is located in one of the heater hoses that runs along the back of the engine ,near the bulkhead.You may have to dig down to find it.hth

Temp sensor for the gauge or the engine management? Some do both, networked from the engine ECU.
Down the back of the engine; below the inlet manifold, next to the coilpack.

Its a pain to get at but can be done.
Just done mine on a '98 fiesta as assume its the same.
best to take the pipe off for access - or at least one end. You'll have to drain the coolant (or partially at least) though.
