99 1.8, Oil spots under my focus? - jswillia
Hi guys

I have a 1.8 1999 Ford Focus I have noticed a few problems. I had my power steering cooling rack changed on my last service by a local garage back in April this year. I have started to notice the power steering fluid going down and a few oil spots appearing under my car. I think it may be the power steering fluid leaking? Where do I stand with this garage as they replaced it last time and it was under a year ago?

The rate of fluid loss is?
If it is high then I would get it to a garage, slowly, but urgently.

Obviously, until you or someone identifies where exactly the PS fluid is leaking from you cannot progress this.

It might be the PS fluid cooler, as it was in my Mondeo. If it is this then IMO it has nothing to do with the work the garage did.

Not a large amount of fluid loss but a good few spots every day. Do you reckon it would be a good idea to take it back to the same garage to get them to have a look at it?

Slight thread drift! A Mondeo's PS fluid gets so hot that it needs a cooler? When did that start? An an ex-pilot I am used to fluids being cooled by strange means (engine oil being cooled by jetfuel in a heat exchanger) but very hot PAS fluid is a new one on me!

I think it has been like it for a month. Under the bonet it shows the levels at cold, min and max. So i assume it must get quite hot. Do you reckon its a big problem?
