Coolant change - talkinman
Do I need to use the recomended Skoda coolant when doing a complete change? or is this the usual "trying to get you to use the main dealer stuff". Also is it an easy job?

You need to use the correct coolant. You don't need to buy it from Skoda/VAG. Find the coolant specification (It's on the reservoir tank on my vehicle and is G12) then contact German Swedish & French or some other independent factor to get it at a fair price.

Use at the recommended concentration with distilled water (I use rainwater but I'm lucky enough to live in the country). The job is easy enough - it's worth backflushing the radiator and heater core with a garden hose at moderate flow, then vent the system after filling if required.

Use VAG G12, price wise it's on a par with any other anti - freeze.
I got mine from a VAG dealer, cheaper than my local Skody dealer.
