One of our local council's has finally gone completely loopy, or rather one of its parking attendants has.
Woman received a FPN for displaying a 'For Sale' sign in her car while parked in a town centre car park while doing her shopping!
Apparently it is a contravention of their car parking terms to offer any item for sale whilst parked in the car park and by having a 'For Sale' sign taped to her window she is deemed to be offering her vehicle for sale whilst parked in their car park.
One hopes common sense will prevail but as someone, I can't remember who, once said, 'The problem with common sense is that it isn't very common.'

The parking warden may have had a point, I think. If you look at the photo of the car, you can clearly see a A4 sized piece of paper stuck to the windscreen, and the article points to the fact that the rear and side windows also had 'stickers; in them. If I were on the appeals board (or whatever it is), I'd take the view that the car couldn't have been driven to the car park in that state (a good deal of the visibility blocked by the 'for sale' signs), so therefore, it would be reasonable to assume that the had been parked there to attempt to sell it. If there's a rule that says you can't sell anything from that piece of land, then you can't sell anything.
The woman may be forgiven for not knowing that rule, but she shouldn't be forgiven for driving round with her car in that state (a different matter, I know) - perhaps the local traffic BiB could have a word with her...watches airborne porcine object sail gracefully through the air...

Seems very sensible to me otherwise you'd find car parks used for car boot sales etc.
We have a small public car park in our village. Across the road is a fairly busy 4x4 specialist with a cramped forecourt. A couple of years back he took to parking 3-4 of his vehicles in the public car park with For Sale signs in them. Good idea if you think about it. Obviously someone had a word with him because it stopped after a month or two.

AFAIR you can be done for parking on the road with "for sale" signs in the windows.

A4 sized piece of paper permanently stuck on the windscreen. Absolutely clueless.
