yr 1998, 1.1 - no spark - pedrosink
Help!!!
I own a 1998 106 1.1 that wont start!!! I recently changed the exhaust system and when i tried to start the car....nothing. I checked the spark plug but no, there was no spark!
I assumed that the coil was history, so i replaced it but still nothing!
Anyone have any ideas? cause i've run out.
I'm sure someone else has had this problem because it sounds vaguely familiar

You're not going to get very far in diagnostics if you give up when your first wild guess turns out to be wrong.

Have you checked all the engine management fuses? If you swapped the oxygen sensor over to the new exhaust, did any of it's wires get damaged?

Sounds like you have damaged the crank postion sensor wiring to the right of the exhaust. This also means there will be no fuel, as the injectors wouldn't be firing or the pump kept running. Regards Peter

Hi Pete, Pete here,
I found a forum a while ago with a guy with the same problem and he had changed the "ecu", the coil, crank sensor ,but still no joy. I tried to contact him but nothing yet.
But i think i will at least try to test the continuity of the wiring....Cheers..Pete.

Yup i was a bit vague..
All fuses are ok and no wires have been damaged.
Im sure someone else had this problem before. They changed the "ecu",crank sensor, and the coil and still no start? I tried to contact but no joy!

Swapping parts will just empty your wallet without any progress.

Right; if this is a '98 then you're outside the UK - yes?

What is the engine code - this is important; there are many variations. It's either in the VIN number or on the front of the cylinder block; anything from H1A to HFX.

Hi Screwloose. The Pug 106 1.1 1998 was a UK car 'R' plate and the engines wafrom memory a DUA1 or something like that. But as you say there is no point in just throwing money at it. It only appears to have failed due to changing the exhaust down pipe. Regards Peter

This is the model with the faulty immoboiliser coil...
First, do some diagnostics
Does the fuel pump work?
If so, check the Low tnsion feed to the coil works..
