Want a car fit for royalty? A modified Mercedes Sprinter van used by the Sultan of Brunei to watch camel racing is for sale on Auto Trader.

This 2004 Mercedes Benz AMG VIP Meeting Vehicle started out life as a sprinter van before being emphatically redesigned.

The oil baron commissioned Mercedes tuning specialists AMG to make three of the bespoke machines, which were fitted with 2.3-litre supercharged engines.

On the outside, the Sultan had 18-inch alloys and an aerodynamic bodykit added ? along with uprated brakes and an AMG sports exhaust.

Inside, AMG really went to work. The bright red interior is all leather with matching red carpet. The VIP cabin has four electric seats, LCD screens, electric table and storage compartment and a sound system worthy of a Kiss concert.

And the amazing air-conditioning system, more suited to the climate of Dubai than Dorking, is powered by an on-board diesel generator.

The Sultan is one of the world?s biggest petrolheads, and has owned 5,000 cars including 500 Rolls Royces.

Now you can get you hands on the Sultan?s old car ? which has covered just 2,000 miles ? for £82,250!

A few months ago you could have had one of his eight Honda NSXs for 22,950, with just 8k miles on the clock, from a firm near Southend. It had been on blocks most of its life but was looked at by Chiswick Honda, the UK experts. Somebody beat me to it.
Evidently he's thinning out the stock - maybe facing a 'short-term liquidity crisis'? I don't think.
More likely plain bored...

Take a look on the sellers website. They've got some pretty cool cars incl. a Ferrari 275 GTB/4 Berlinetta for £550,000, a Ford Mondeo Super V6 BTCC Touring Car used in the UK Touring car championship for £23k, a Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM Factory Race car £287,875 and 3 XJ220s.

Now that's more like it. Pity they're so dear.

Derek Bell said that model needed new camshafts every 5,000 miles or so too. Fabulous looking car (regarded though as rather porcine by true Ferraristi) that probably costs owners a couple of grand every time they turn the key.

Always annoys me when you see these exclusive cars with mileages of hundreds or certainly single figure thousands.

If I had the money and bought them, then they would be getting driven!!

Like the Camper Van though!!!!
