Hello everyone.
Just to share my second experience to Poland in a toyota camry 2.4 litre. It is a 52 plate.
Excellent car - almost likened to a Lexus.
To Poland, on petrol it averaged 43 Mpg (1,000 miles) which I thought was very frugal considering.
Very confortable, despite the 12 hour drive and very fast. It is a very large car and fits a lot.
The use of LPG brang MPG down to 35 mpg - which is still very good i.m.o.
Cheapest LPG is in Belgium (35p per litre or so).

Interesting. Pretty impressive economy from a 2.4-litre. In fact, indecently economical...
|
That economy is unlikely to be true.
Either (a) the fuel computer is lying or (b) the OP has done the calculations wrong.
|
I see 35 - 37 mpg on long motorway runs in my 2.4 Previa, in fact I would get more out of the previous auto one than the present manual. That's not using a computer but good old brim to brim tankfulls. The 2.4 petrol is more economical than it's smaller bodied diesel Estima/Enima sisters.
(Of course I do take it above 3rd gear sometimes... :)

Unfortunate name for a car that last one!!

Once you start mixing petrol and gas the onboard fuel computer is not worth a light the figures are meaningless.Having said that the Camry is a lovely cruiser.
|
|
My Estima diesel would just about stretch to 30mpg on a run, normally 25mpg around the lanes and 28 mpg cruising fast to the south of France and back.

Agreed, intersting trip though.
|
If I quote fuel economy figures, they are based on how much I have put in the tank, and how far I have traveled.
I know that some trip computers are fairly accurate, but on the whole, I don't trust them.
|
The figures are based on the petrol/ gas I used. The computer is optimisic by 10%. I think the cruise control and fact that Poland/ German autobans have a lot of places going downhill, hence improving the economy a lot.
I didn't drive very fast through - just to the speed limit.
And one more point - the bad polish drivers are becoming worse - way to aggressive and lack of thought. Too much vodka I fear!
|
if you've ever had genuine Polish potato vodka you'd know why - like chalk and cheese compared to the grain stuff we commonly get!
|
It makes a good mouthwash .......

My giddy aunt, you must be a gentle driver then to get these figures. If I lent you my old A4 TDi 130 you'd probably get about 100 mpg !
