Just changed timing belt on R plate 306 td.Used bolts to lock camshaft and fuel pump in position plus paint marks.
When tried to re start engine it will not tick over plus lots of smoke and misfire . Any ideas?

sounds like you've got it a tooth or more out on the timing. did you lock the crankshaft with a bolt through the hole by the gearbox into the flywheel? turn the crank with a socket on the crankshaft pulley bolt until you can get a pin in the hole for flywheel. then check where the camshaft and fuel pump holes line up

No did not lock crankshaft.Where is hole into flywheel front or rear of engine?

it's behind the starter motor, may be easier to remove the starter, it's only 3 bolts to do, i can do it by feel but ive done quite a few.
you've probably managed to turn the crank slightly while fitting the belt or moving the pulley, quite lucky you haven't done real damage.
