I was flashed by a Gatso on 30th July 2007 in a temporary 40 limit (roadworks) and have not yet received a NIP. What is the time limit (if any) for being served with an NIP?
The Gatso has since been destroyed by a fire, but this was at least a week (and possibly longer) after I was flashed!
I did notice that there was only one flash.......does this indicate anything?

If its only one flash then its likely that its out of film.
The time limit is that it must be posted within 14 days of the offense, there's not a limit on how long the post office takes to deliver it.

I read often, only post occasionally

NIP is sent to registered keeper so they have 14 days to get it to your company or car leasr org if the car is not yours personally. How long it takes to be forwarded to you does not count. If it is your car I would say you are clear by now. I got flashed last year on Friday and the NIP was with me on the next Tuesday

If I subsequently receive a NIP, what evidence do I have that it was actually "posted" before the 14 day deadline?

Could be they hadn't collected the film before someone did the decent thing and torched it.

What the SCP do is to generate 2 NOIP's. One sent to you. The other they keep on file together with a Certificate of Service that is completed by the person who posts yours off endorsed to the effect of posting, time and date. In any argument they will produce this at Court.

I've read that NIPs must be delivered (served) within 14 days. That's not posted within 14 days - they must be posted so that they arrive no later than 14 days after the alleged offence.
Proof of posting is not proof of delivery (serving), which is why if you do get an NIP after the 14 day mark it's important to check the postmark on the envelope. In some cases the postmark has proved the NIP was sent too late to arrive before the 14th day expires.

I heard somewhere that they're going to put CCTV cameras up near some speed cameras to watch them, in case anyone else decides a Gatso-BBQ is in order. Taking the nanny state to extremes, when there's cameras watching the cameras that can get you prosecuted on circumstantial evidence. Long live democracy!
Incidentally it's now 16 days since I might've been caught, and I've heard nothing. Might assume that I was lucky this time.

It has to be POSTED within fourteen days.
