My 1999 Rover 414, 47k miles, not driven particularly had has developed an intermittent whistle / screech. It comes from the front offside when going around a bend at 30 to 40 mph ish. The front brake pads were changed 10k miles ago (11 months ago). Could it be a wheel bearing on the way out? The car was my fathers so everything is original except the tyres, exhaust & front pads.

Sounds like it could be the metal shim that fits between the calliper and the pad, it could be catching on the disc.
