Is it just me, or have other people had problems with door locks, handles actually, on pre-face lifted Omega's?

Robert,
Yes, this has been the only problem to date with mine. Basically, the central locking didn't have the strength to unlock the driver's door. Took it to my local garage, who WD40ed it (I don't know specifically what they oiled) and it's now as sweet as a nut, unlocking every time. They aren't a Vauxhall dealer, but even they had seen it before, so it may be common.
Hope this helps,
Vin

My omega drivers door began not to unlock. The symptom was the lock button failing to rise enough to open the lock. WD40 provided a temporary repair. Eventually, I went to a Vauxhall dealer and they knew about the problem (and solution) without even looking. Apparently, the internal latch mechanism is the trouble and it was replaced - and solved the problem at a cost of 125 pounds. The dealer said it was a common fault but it is not covered by my warranty.

Both my brother and I have run Omegas over the past three years. Out of the three cars we have had, (all less than a year old), two of them have had the sticking drivers central locking syndrome. WD40 is the best we have been offered as a solution, however the problem usually reoccurs, especially in very cold weather.
I got into an Omega taxi in Newcastle the other day, and the driver told me what a wonderful car it was - apart from the sticking driver's door central locking.
I think it is a poor show from GM charging £125 a time to fix what is clearly a design problem with the car.
I think the Omega is much underrated, however the capabilities of the dealer network fall well short of those of the car..........
