Not sure if anyone cares about this but there are some who doubted I would ever buy a sporty car. Well I just put down a deposit on a black P reg Boxster 2.5 (private sale)! Having looked it over inside & out, it didn't look much more than 3 years old which says a lot about the build quality. I know it's not the fastest or flashest car on the road, but it's a drivers car, easily fast enough for me, and I think it's one of the most beautiful cars of the last 10 years. If anyone's interested I'll post a small report about my first drive of it after getting hold of it next week... very excited now - just got to buy a set of the clear facelift lights now!

Sound lovelly, enjoy it
;O)

Good for you. Hope you enjoy it and that it proves to be inexpensive to run.

Enjoy! And yes, am interested in seeing your first drive review.

"a set of the clear facelift lights"
Pardon ignorance, but what are they? Not those bizarre third-party tail-lights that so spoil the appearance, I hope!
|
If he does'nt like the lights he can always revert back to standard, they bolt on!
Link a few pics up when you get your mits on it.
;O)

Enjoy! :-)
Look forward to seeing some pics...

sometimes a little bit too much opinion....but its only because i care !!!

Yes enjoy & come over & have a look at www.porsche-1.net & www.Tipec.net where others will be fellow owners.
As for a set of clear lights, good idea, try Jamsine or Porscheshop. These for JB are white indicators instead of orange on the front which were used on the facelifted cars.

I think he means he is going to put a set of light lenses from a later car which aren't orange. I believe it's called 'de-tangoing' the car and is replacing one OEM part with another. Rather than those awful 'Lexus style' lights that some people like to fit (and also some manufacturers other than Lexus- Subaru springs to mind with the Impreza- a pre-chavved up car who would have thought it!)
|
Yes, I am refering to 'de-tangoing' (!) I'll be swapping the lights for OEM Porsche parts from the 2003 facelift model. Can't stand aftermarket modifications. Thanks for all the enthusiasm guys (& gals)!

Well done - great car - lovely build quality - enjoy...
Sadly I cant justify one for my family/load lugging activities.

As a former Boxster (3.2 S) owner, I am sure you will have great fun. The best thing to do with one of these is to get it on a track. Not to thrash it ragged but to gently learn its limits, and what it can or cannot do.
The other thing that is highly recommended is going on a Porsche Driving Experience Day. You can either use one of their cars or your own, and again it is a tremendous learning experience.
Oh, and make sure you get the revs above, say 4,500 regularly to enjoy the noise!
(P.S. I'm close to buying a 993!)
|
Roly: Lovely build quality? I don't think so! Still, it's a great drive. OP: Enjoy it!
Boxsterboy: 993 - a real Porsche with reasonably decent build quality, although watch for rust around the base of the front and rear screens, inside the wheelarches and at the bottom of the doors. The door checkstraps are weak too. Very sensitive to suspension set-up/alignment. Mechanically very robust... but these cars ar egetting old now. (I also guess you've done your homework.)
I loved mine - had a few nice mods - but it needed more TLC than a modern car!
