All,
My partners Saxo VTR has been broken intotwice and had tyres let down in last 3 weeks. Twice trying to pinch radio, but both times failed. Made a mess of both doors too. Im fairly sure that it is the same people. Bit unsure what to do and how to get round it. Last incident waas last night and police are coming to lift prints but as it been raining thats unlikely. Any experience of this, shes even considered moving house (we only rent at minute). It prooper broke her heart how soem one keeps targeting her, she proper loves that car
Any experiences welcome
TIA

Wire the car up to a fence gaurd ( the type that give animals shocks in fields) & turn it up full! & just for fun set up a video camera! Enjoy. The mains is far better but a judge won't look sympathetically on the results

Take the radio out of the car?
|
Have your neighbours had similar problems? If not then perhaps some scumbag is playing games. If they are targetting GF specifically then if you can move easily, perhaps it is time to do it?

Just to confirm naighbourhs have had no problem in last few years, as always they kep tabs out but apart from me sleeping in my car next to it can monitor the situation. Its already cost me 150 to fix last break in, shes skint bless her

Whilst this would be effective if extreme. I would appreciate some more normal suggestions. Im a bit peed off and would like to know if any of you out there have ever experinced this before and what to do. taking radio out is OK but impractical, the front is always detached and seems a bit pointless just breaking in to see if it is in car.
I was thinking about proximity sensors that warn you if you get too claose, how much are these?

Bottle of booze, concealing some percentage paraquat, left in car...
Problem solved.

Change the car. These Saxos are popular with kids. I don't think there's much else you can do. Some years ago there was a phase of cars getting broken into down the street. I stayed up one night and caught the youths red handed. My car was never touched again...

How much for a 2002 (02 Reg) Saxo VTR with 22,000 on clock?
Passenger side door slight kink in middle of door
Driver side door knackered lock and hole in door next to lock
How much to proper repair this to a sellable standard
Can anyone suggest a scroat proof car!! I sit worth getting a cheaper older car?

You are lucky they haven't nicked it as they are easy to pinch, the VTR doesn't have an immobiliser as standard. When I had mine broken into, they were left scratching their heads as to why they couldn't steal it as I had an immobiliser fitted as an option. They are easy to break into as well, screwdriver, like a knife through butter. Does it not have an alarm on it which would alert you if it was broken into? There is not much you can do to prevent this, maybe CCTV in your house directed at the car perhaps with a warning notice.

Re CCTV I think there is some poxy Human Rights carp which says that you can't take CCTV pictures of areas outside your own property - invasion of privacy of the person pgotgraphed. Of course, this doesn't apply to the STASI clones in charge of our once free and proud country. Rant off!

Thankfully a lawyer on the Jeremy Vine show explained that you can video whatever you like if it's in a public place.

Oh - should add that while the electric fence might prove a deterrent, you've got to a) earth it in a tarmac road and b) take the chance of the ECU being damaged by 5000V nearby. If the fence positive is connected to the metalwork of the car and then earthed in the road, anyone touching the outside should get a nasty shock. However, should you then touch the positive side of any electrical equipment in the car while earthed, you'll also get zapped *though* the equipment you touched.
Also, when we lived in Rochdale we connected an electric fence to the metal window grills outside the building. Plod were not amused.

Good idea the cattleproof fence... I used to fantasize about a ship's forghorn under the driver's seat of the car, timed to go off after 5 seconds if the toerag ignored the warning notice... problems were the size of the foghorn, and arranging a suitable power supply.
It would make a great video though.

I have no idea what value your Saxo would have.
A scroat proof car? Micra maybe? CityRover? :-)

I'd modify Ian's suggestion and leave a bottle of pee on the front seat. Not that I'd ever advocate that of course.

Well Tim I'm a bit dissapointed that you feel the electric fence idea is not a normal suggestion & yet you are asking whether people breaking into cars is a problem! its a huge problem & often the culprits do huge damage that us normal people have to fork out for!. The people that break in & damage cars are not normal & they are the scum of the earth so why you want to consider their well being is beyond me!. You have even said you are a little peed off but how do you think the rest of us feel when we have our cars damaged or broken into! its about time we all fought back!. the criminal justice system is a joke & encourages criminal behaviour because the penalties are so leniant or non existent! If I ever catch anyone again breaking into my car I know exactly what I will do & I will face the concequences afterwards because I will only get a slapped wrist. You only have to watch the police programs now where criminals can do what they like but us law abiding citizens only have to do 36 in a 30 & hey presto Fine + points + insurance penalties for three-four years. About time everyone woke up to these criminals and stopped tolerating & pandering to em. I use CCTV now & its brilliant best deterrent ever but did have film rejected once when it caught people breaking into property on the basis that the film could of been tampered with & that was the CPS!
Stick a big dog in the car! that will help except for the smell! just make sure it don't bite incase the vermin that break in might get injured! you can't win. we need people power & start fighting back

trader i know got 5 cars broken into last night
took all day to clear the glass
cctv is the best deterant and then send in a private death squad for the culprits
all citroen saxos have anti theft built in, you cannot beat this system if you are a scroat with a mental age of a hyena, rest assured on that OP
A bodyshop should be able to sort the skins out for about £150
advice? just move away because all you will do is get wound up to the extent you will go and confront someone and you will end up being arrested for breaching the peace

I do want to see justice done, its just that its unlikely
Even though its reported to police, they will do sod all as per
CCTV is good idea, might not be possible to put it in and they will probable nick the camera
Im going to pull a switch blank off this weekend and make a flashing LED just as a detergent and buy some "Car Alarm" stckers and put them on windows
We are going to look for an alarm soon, we are also going to talk about moving. SHame really weve only been living there since august
