What do they actually mean by 'quick clear' - is nearly 2 minutes with a slight frost reasonable !!
Two minutes sounds about par, but it depends on the temperature. It's quick if you compare it to waiting for the heater/blower to do the job ;-)
If my journey starts from home, I give it a helping hand with tepid water.

If you really need to be away quickly, Quickclear is your friend. By the time you have scraped/wiped the side windows any frost on the front is soft enough to be wiped away or even melted. Not sure I could cope with a car without it now!

I think so. My Mondeo has a four minute timer so I guess Ford think that is a reasonable time for most extreme condtions.
After two minutes you can relax knowing that it should not frost up again.
A friend had an x-type jaguar with the quick clear capability and it was very good IMO.
It cleared the hardest of frosts very quickly.
I would say 2 mins max.
Certainly quicker than it took me to scrape and spray anyway.
Yes 2 minutes fine for my C-Max

Many people still have the problem of QuickClear front windscreens proving a problem with oncoming headlights if the screen isn't spotlessly clean.

Anyone who makes up their mind that they can see the wires in a QuickClear screen will always dislike them. I'm on my third car with this feature and on the occasions I can see the wires I just ignore/tolerate them. The advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. I'd hate to have to go back to a car that didn't have one.

I did state if they were not kept spotlessly clean.

Does anyone know if they still interfere with the GPS signals for a satnav?

Yes, I find they do with my Navman. I use a little aerial which I pop into the lower corner of the windscreen where there are no wires.
TT1 & S-Type doesn't have a problem!
Is your S-type a post 2002 facelift, tr7v8?
Mine is a 200 pre-face lift and doesn't have a heated front windscreen, although it is an SE. Just wondering whether it's standard on the newer cars?
I know we have moved on to sat nav now, but I am on my 2nd Mondeo with the quick clear windscreen and I think it is excellent. If only more manufacturers could do something similar!

Have no problems with the TomTom One and the quickclear windscreen on my C-Max.

The TomTom One like a lot of the newer design of satnav stuff on the market uses the newer SiRFStarIII Chipset & this isnt effected by Ford Quickclear windscreens.
I can also confirm that my Tomtom One works fine under my Mondeo and SWMBO's Focus QC windscreens.
I only notice the wires in the QC windscreen in exceptionally foggy conditions - presumably because I am not able to focus my vision so far in front of the car. When folks complain that they are distracted by the wires in a QC screen, I wonder if they are looking far enough ahead - and is this affecting their driving???

Sorry for what could be a stupid question, but are Ford the only manufacturer to offer a heated front screen? I've not heard of them being fitted to anything else.
As I understand it, Ford owns the patent for putting heating wires into the glass and has chosen not to license it to other makers.
Ah I see - many thanks for the info.
IIRC Porsche did at one time under licence from Ford.
I'm never too sure of the old "Ford have a patent" argument as I've yet to find the actual patent for it (or rather I should imagine it would be for the manufacturing process).
I've seen the technology across the Ford range and on a Volvo bus, plus HMS Belfast.
