Astra Vibration - spin dizzy
I have an Astra 1997 estate, when I brake around town everything feels fine but when I brake from above 50mph I get a severe vibration through the brake peddle and the steering wheel. I have recently changed both the disks and wishbones but the vibration is still there. The car has done 130k miles, any ideas? Cheers

Spin dizzy

For a start, try slowing the car on the handbrake and see if the vibration still occurs. This may help diagnose if the problem is with the front or rear brakes. (usual caveat about doing this in a safe location etc...)

thanks js, i have tried this already and it appears to be comming from the front, one of the pendulum bushes does have a bit of play in it but not that much, i think?

Lots of possibilites but the most obvious would be caliper beginning to stick.

Did you renew brake pads when you changed discs? Did the calipers retract smoothly and equally both sides? Was one of the brake pads more worn out or less worn out than all the others?

Folowing that, suspension bushes (any play will matter), steering joints, mountings, wheels not buckled? Discs fitted correctly? Can you/did you measure run out?
