Wheel interchangeability between makes - wrangler_rover
Can anybody please help with the following:
Is there a website or source of information that states what wheels are interchangeable between car makes, for example:
Rover 400 wheels are interchangeable with Honda Civics (they are the same car)
Skoda Fabia wheels are likely to be interchangeable with VW Polos.

It isn't as easy as it seems because the stud PCDs have to match and the offsets have to be similar.
Is there a website that lists make/model PCDs and offsets?

Morris Marina and Triumph Herald wheels swap OK.

That's two more for the database.

I'm sure if you had a chat with someone that works in an alloy wheel retailer they might be able to help or point you to a website.

Apols - seems the URL I quoted is now defunct.

All the wheels on the cars mentioned in your list are interchngeable with each other ..... would never have thought that...amazing.
Wheel interchangeability between makes - jase1
Seems that covers just about every brand. The only one missing is PSA -- trust the French to be contrary.

Looking at the site, compatibility seems to be based on number of studs and PCD. It doesn't seem to include wheel width or offset. So they'll fit between the various cars but may not give the full desired results.

Just because wheels have the same number of studs and PCD does not make them fit all other cars;someone has already mentioned offset but there is also the brake size to be considered-some wheels will foul the calipers.

Also of course wheels vary in design, in terms of the size and spacing of the cut-outs. That might be important for brake cooling, or simply appearance.
There may be little prongs on the back plate to locate in a hole in the wheel, to ensure the wheel always goes back on the same studs.
Back in the days of proper nave plates (aka hub caps) these sometimes clipped on in different ways. Some had studs welded on the wheel, others had protrusions around the central section. Some clipped directly onto the hub, so the wheels did not have attachment points for the nave plates.

This website gives PCD, offset and centre bore hole diameters, (but its not as easy to search between makes as the retro rides site):

www.rochfordtyres.co.uk/fitmentguide.asp

Some hubs have an inner flange which fits into the center bore hole of the wheel (my Saab does, and the wheels fit very snugly over them). Although the PCD may be the same, the centre bore hole can be different diameters.
Do all hubs have this flange in some shape or form? I cant remember, its a long time since I've changed a wheel on a different car to my current one?
