New MINI Cooper S Road Test - David Horn

"1.6 Cooper Petrol 6-speed manual: 0-60 8.8 seconds; top speed 126mph; combined mpg 48,7; CO2 emissions 139g/km (VED Band C £100pa); EU4"

Does the 1.6 really deliver 48.7mpg on the combined cycle? I'm wearing an extremely sceptical look. ;)
