Hi can anyone tell me if the HPI REPORTS that one can get from Ebay are as good/comprehensive as any of the other ways?
I'm pretty sure the cars straight but if its a case of the £6.99 ebay one not being as good then I'll pay up for one of the others.
Also while I'm seeking advise this particular car has had its reg no. changed, the new plates on the vehicle were provided by a HONDA dealer, and a quick search on DVLA confirms that the old '51 plate is now running round on a 2006 Honda, and that the new '51 plate is on the vehicle I'm buying.
The numbers on car all match, windscreen, boot, engine bay, theres DVLA docs confirming the change.
Just a quick a quick q to the more experienced forum members ..............does it all sound ok or is there anything else I should be doing?
Cheers

ring hpi up in the morning and ask them to explain the difference
thats is what i would do as your first price sounds like a very basic identification check rather than
finance clear
crash clear
police interest clear
number of owners
etc etc

I posted on here last week concerning a Laguna on ebay that I had discovered was a Cat D write-off. That was from a check from www.mycarcheck.com which cost £9.99. They emailed me a .pdf report which contained details on the car model, engine number etc plus number of keepers, date of last change of ownership, colour changes, plate transfers, scrapped, exported, stolen and insurance write-off.
Not quite as detailed as the ebay report, however I couldn't do one of these as the seller hadn't included the vehicle reg in the item description which you need to click on to activate the link to the report page. The ebay report, as well as the above, also includes finance check, security register, insurance registered theft, mileage check and a valuation.
So my advice would be, if the seller has listed the item using the vehicle reg, then go for the ebay report. It covers all the basics and its cheaper.
