ford mondeo 1.8 petrol; this is my first car with air con'. i have had it re-gassed but it is not blowing cold , i can not find any fuses blown. anybody any ideas. thanks in advance, gibbo007

You may well find that the Condenser (mounted in front of the radiator) has rusted through at the bottom. A very common problem on a Mk2 Mondeo.

When you had the aircon regassed did they put any dye in, do you know?

If not working after gas, is the clutch pulling in? If so, then the compressors shot. If not, then check the clutch cycling switch, relays, fuses, and wiring.

These are really easy to work on, so a specialist (not a guy with a new machine) should be able to fix it easily.

Have you got the airflow direction control selected for aircon ?
With standard aircon (rather than climate) there may be just one position on the direction knob for cold air.
This is probably out of the dashboard vents - select anything else and cold air is blocked off.
Your handbook should say.

Do you get water pooling under the car after aircon has been used ?
