Anti-Kevs - markymarkn
In my area last night was one of the few occasions when it was necessary to use fog-lights. We all rant about the rude-boys and suchlike who drive around with them constantly on, but I was amazed at the number of drivers, particularly on the country lanes with no street lighting, who did not have them on at all.

Makes you wonder wether it isd safer to have them on permanently than not at all, since it was obvious some people cannot work out when they should and should not, or was it that they don't want to be given a possible 'kevin' classification?

I wonder when car manufacturers will design a similar system to automatic wipers where fog lights automatically turn on when it is foggy.

Mark.

too many typos to list.

:-p
Re: Anti-Kevs - Andy
I find that I can't remember which switch to press because of the silly symbols car manufacturers use instead of words loke 'front fog' and 'rear fog'.
For this reason my fogs tend to remain off!
Re: Anti-Kevs - Kev
Do front fog lights make the slightest bit of difference? Do they 'cut' through the fog as much as they are hyped up to?
I think they are a useless extra, people seem to 'have' to have to make their car look 'nice'

By the way, I totally agree, ive seen cars in thick fog with no lights on. well, I just about saw them..........

Re: Anti-Kevs - Tomo
You mean, fog off?
Re: Anti-Kevs - Andy
Kev - Yes, they work. A few years ago we picked up our new car, a Rover 218is which came with fogs as standard. That night, we decided to take it for a spin over the Snake Pass (like you do).
On the way out, all was clear. On the way back, a thick fog descended, reducing vis to a few yds.
The only way I could see my way (in an unfamiliar car and with cars behind me) was to turn off the dips and use the fogs. They really helped!
Re: Anti-Kevs - markymarkn
As experienced Saturday night, yes they do help. The light is a lot lower and so shines up the road and not the fog.

Like Andy said, I too had to use sidelights and fogs on a few of the country lanes.

p.s. Sorry Kev, am sure you're used to it but the name's just stereotypical!
Re: Anti-Kevs - El Dingo (Martin)
....prepare to be flashed and generally cursed........especially if you drive a 3 series or Laguna, which are particularly dazzling to on-coming drivers.

Or do you turn your fogs off when meeting on-coming traffic?

I do hope that you never use fogs in heavy traffic...

Martin.
